Central monitoring is exactly what it sounds like, experienced operators monitoring your home or business alarm system around the clock. If there’s any suspicious activity, you’ll be notified and if needed, the proper authorities will be dispatched.
It’s peace of mind.
Here’s an example of central monitoring working in a real time situation.
Imagine that you’re at work and your home alarm is tripped while away. You receive a message on your phone that the alarm system has been triggered and you immediately text your daughter who is home alone to check on her. She texts you back, “Mom, sorry. I accidentally tripped the alarm because I was talking with Caitlyn. But it’s all good now.”
You breathe a sigh of relief.
Fortunately, when you have central monitoring on your alarm system, you’re notified immediately and, if something seems off, you’ll know that help will be on the way.
Here’s how it works. When an alarm is triggered at your site:
- An alarm sounds, alerting you and possible intruders. If you’re not onsite and have opted for the interactive security system, then you’ll immediately receive the notification on your smartphone.
- An operator at the central monitoring station receives an alert, notifying them to the type of problem.
- Then, depending upon the type of alarm, they will contact you or your designated contact to verify the alarm. This way, authorities aren’t dispatched for any false alarms, but you are still notified of the situation.
- If it is an actual alarm or if the central monitoring station cannot reach you, the proper authorities will be dispatched and your emergency contacts will be notified.
