Recommit to Your Resolutions
We are nearing the end of January, and many people’s resolutions have fallen by the wayside. Why not make a resolution to practice better home security? Here are three easy resolutions to get started.
Resolve to always lock your doors and arm your security system
If you leave your doors unlocked or your system unarmed when you leave the house, you make it easy for would-be burglars. It is also a good practice to keep your doors locked and the perimeter of your alarm system armed when you are at home.
Resolve to use (or install) outdoor lighting
Install outdoor lighting, or make sure that yours is working. Having outdoor lights on at night makes it harder for a burglar to break into your home under the blanket of darkness. Lights that come on automatically when it is dark, or on timers, also makes it look like someone is home when you are away. Resolve to maintain your security system
Do you have battery powered smoke detectors? Make sure to check and change the batteries. Have you had construction done at your home? Review your system with one of our security specialists to make sure that it is providing the coverage you now need. Do you test your alarm system monthly? You want to make sure that the system is working and communicating with the central monitoring center before you need it.
